Overview

Embark on an extraordinary adventure into the heart of nature, where ancient woods and timeless standing stones hold the secrets of serenity and transformation. Join us for a mini retreat that weaves together pilgrimage, profound experiences, nurturing your soul and awakening your connection to the land and the elements. Our journey commences as we tread through an ancient forest. Guided by the pull of an ancient standing stone atop the moor, we navigate landscapes steeped in history and mystery. Within this landscape you experience a sound journey beside a waterfall, a water gratitude ceremony, a breathwork session before returning off the moors to ground within our wild sauna by the river. We finish with grounding soup by the fire. This immersive odyssey spans the landscapes of both the external world and the deep realms within. It's a day of discovery, contemplation, and rejuvenation, a celebration of the union between self and nature, spirit and stone. Smudging / cleansing ceremony

We open the sacred space with a cleansing (or smudging) ceremony with our own native Mugwort. A smudging ceremony is the ritual of burning plant resins and herbs while intentions and prayers are called forth. Many cultures have used the power of smoke to cleanse and say prayers.  Native American and Indigenous cultures have practiced smudging rituals to clear away negative energy, to invite in peace and harmony for individuals or environments.

Soundbath

In a beautiful Silver Birch glade by a river and a waterfall: Experience a deeply meditative sound bath immersed within the sounds and the elements.  Tibetan bowls and the beautiful tones of gongs, working in harmony to soothe, balance and restore your energy. The gongs vibrations impact the body and all its meridians. The sound releases blocks, reduces tension and stimulates circulation.  Sound is so effective as it deeply influences our emotional bodies as well as our physical bodies.

Sauna By The River

After walking back from the standing stone, we gather in the sauna. The sauna brings us back into our bodies. We slowly increase the heat. As your core temperature rises and your body starts to sweat , we then take a break to cool off, just outside or in the water.  We are very careful to keep everyone safe and as comfortable as possible in the heat and cold.

Cold dipper

In between sauna rounds it is a good idea to cool off. To cool off you can either sit outside the sauna or you might like to take a cold water dip. We would advise going into the water gently, incrementally, so that your body can get used to it. Once you are in up to your waist, take a deep breath through your nose and as you exhale slowly through your mouth gently submerge your body so you are sitting on the floor of the river. The access is nice and easy.  The benefits of the cold plunge are many! You go in the water at your own risk.

Supper

Post-sauna, we change and come together again by the fire for vegan soup. Amidst conversation, we weave our experiences, fostering friendships and integrating our experience.

drum

Drum Journey

A drum journey is a type of shamanic journey that involves entering a trance-like state through the rhythmic beating of a drum . In traditional cultures, drum journeys were often used for healing, divination, and spiritual exploration.

During a drum journey you may begin to experience vivid mental imagery, altered states of consciousness, and even mystical experiences. The rhythmic beats of the drum help to synchronize the group's brainwaves, creating a collective trance state.

This is a very special part of the world

Nested within this sacred realm, where megalithic stones resonate with lay lines, and natural springs cascade into enchanting waterfalls, the land pulsates with a unique and vibrant energy. We've conducted ceremonies on this hallowed ground, co-creating with the land to lead you to your destined point. Ancient woodlands gracefully yield to expansive moors, forming the backdrop of your transformative journey.

Be gentle and don't go out of your depth

Be gentle and don't go out of your depth

If you do decide to have a dip , please be gentle on yourself, go in slowly and incrementally. Then when you are up to your waist slowly submerge. There is no need to go out of your depth. You dip at your own risk.

Head torch or torch

Head torch or torch

It is helpful for you to bring a head torch or torch. Phone light is not really up to the job so borrow a torch if you do not have one.

River shoes

River shoes

The river is pebbly. It is totally safe but this can be slightly uncomfortable on some feet. So please bring sandals or wetsuit boots if you have sensitive feet and have them.

FAQs

We recommend simply doing the sauna what traditional sauna-ers have long done: nothing. Just sit there. Let your mind go. Do some reflecting while your thinking is still sharp; meditate when your mind starts going blank. Just be.

During your sauna session, you’ll lose a lot of water through your sweat — up to four cups during a twenty-minute session! Be sure to rehydrate with plenty of water afterward. Supplement with electrolytes as needed.

We would also recommend to just go easy on yourself. You will be in a state of high vibration and relaxation. You want to be in that state as long as possible so stay away from stressful or negative situations, people or media.

Bottle of water. Towl. Yoga matt. Bag for putting clothes in while you are in the sauna. Dress in something loose and comfy with bathing costume underneath. We are just in bathing costume in the sauna then in and out of the sea (if you wish). Afterwards it's a case of getting back into your clothes again a bit wet, so consider a dressing gown/towel/ dry robe for modesty. PLease wrap up warm. Plenty of layers.

That is absolutely fine there is no pressure at all to go in the water! You can stay in the sauna as long as is comfortable and just take breaks out in the air.

A sound bath is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by various sources, including healing instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, rattles, tuning forks, and even the human voice itself.

Breathwork refers to any type of breathing exercises or techniques. People often perform them to improve mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. During breathwork you intentionally change your breathing pattern.

There are many forms of breathwork therapy that involve breathing in a conscious and systematic way. Many people find breathwork promotes deep relaxation or leaves them feeling energized.
