Your Yoga Teacher
Chrissy from Green Seas Yoga
Meet Chrissy, a passionate yoga teacher with over 20 years of experience in practicing and teaching yoga. She discovered yoga in 1998 and fell in love with it despite feeling out of her comfort zone at first. After being diagnosed with arthritis of the hip in 2011, she used yoga as part of her healing process, which not only helped her physically but also changed her mindset and feelings towards her injury. She became a yoga teacher in 2018 and teaches a range of classes, including Vinyasa & Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and meditation. She also integrates her love of dance and the ocean into her sessions, providing a playful and fun atmosphere while still honoring the traditions of yoga. Chrissy's goal is to inspire others on their journey and help them feel better and live a better life. Join her for her classes, events, and mini-retreats with Green Seas Yoga, and let her guide you along your own path with enthusiasm, encouragement, support, smiles, laughter, and love.

Arrive in plenty of time
Welcome to our yoga class on the beach! Take a moment to arrive and settle in before we start. We recommend giving yourself at least 10 minutes to prepare for your session, allowing yourself to fully relax and let go of any distractions.
Once we begin, we will embark on a journey of 50 minutes of delicious yoga, flowing with the rhythm of the ocean and the sun or wind on our skin.
Optional activities before or after

A beautiful corner of the world
South Gare is an area of Redcar beach located by breakwater on the southern side of the mouth of the river Tees. We are located on the beach above the high tide line or in the dunes if it is windy.

What level of yoga is this?
The yoga is for all levels and the yoga teacher will give you what you need and take you to where you need to be, whether you are a beginner or advanced.
I'm not flexible - can I do yoga?
Yes! In fact you are a perfect candidate for yoga. Many people think that they need to be flexible to begin yoga, but that’s a little bit like thinking that you need to be able to play tennis in order to take tennis lessons. Come as you are and you will find that yoga practice will help you become more flexible. This newfound agility will be balanced by strength, coordination as well as a sense of physical confidence and overall well-being.
I'm not fit - can I do yoga?
Yes, absolutely. There is no assumed level of fitness required for the yoga classes. You might not exercise or be an athlete, yoga can benefit everyone. Yoga can help you gain a sense of physical confidence and overall well-being.
Do I need a yoga mat?
We are on the beach so a yoga matt can actually get in the way a bit. However if you prefer not to get sandy bring your yoga mat - that's fine too. If you do not have a yoga matt let us know and we can provide one.
What if it is bad weather?
Mother nature is in charge. Part of the beauty of doing yoga at the beach is connection to the elements. So if it is slightly rainey or windy we will embrace it!! However, if it is absolutely chucking it down or blowing a massive hooley we will look to use our back up location!
Yoga on the beach? Whaaaaat??
Yes yoga on the beach! You can take in the sunrise! Hear the crashing waves ! You will fully connected. But do bare in mind that this is a shared space with other beach users so you may encounter the odd curious dog or seagull!
