Why We Don’t Allow Guest-Swapping During a One-Hour Session
Posted on Mon 4 Aug 2025 · by Danny
We understand the intention behind wanting to "take turns" in the sauna during a booking. But to keep things hot, safe, and fair for everyone, we have a simple rule:
Sauna sessions are for a fixed number of people. We don’t allow swapping extra guests in and out during the session.
Even if someone only plans to be in the sauna briefly, only the number of booked guests may enter during the hour. Here’s why:
Heat and Steam Stability
Every time the door opens for someone new, the sauna cools quickly. The stove has to work harder to recover, and the quality of heat and steam is compromised. It’s difficult to maintain the atmosphere and the intended intensity of the session.
Extra Wear and Cleanup
More guests, even for a short time, create more sweat, moisture, sand, drips, and towel use. This increases the cleanup burden and shortens the turnaround time for preparing the space for the next group.
Disrupted Flow
Sauna is a rhythm. When people constantly come and go, the session loses flow and becomes less restorative. Even for those inside, it can feel rushed and distracted.
Fairness to Others
We charge per person using the sauna, just like any treatment space. Allowing extra guests to "take turns" would be unfair to others who pay properly for their session.
Host Focus and Capacity
Our hosts are already managing multiple things: fire temperature, ventilation, session timings, music, and welcoming guests. When unexpected extra people arrive or swaps are made mid-session, it adds complexity and can pull focus from delivering a high-quality experience.
Safety and Oversight
Knowing exactly who is in the sauna at all times matters. If someone becomes unwell, we need to respond quickly. With changing groups, it’s harder to keep track of who’s in, who’s out, and who might need support.
If you’d like to include more people, we recommend booking a longer session or two back-to-back. That way everyone can enjoy a proper sauna without rushing or compromising the experience.
Thanks for your understanding and for supporting the kind of sauna experience we’re proud to offer.
