Highlights

Pre Solstice Sunset Gathering

Pre Solstice Sunset Gathering

We begin the solstice celebrations, gathering together with magical Mama Cacao, opening space with a sacred smudge of Mugwort and inviting the sky and the earth to meet in our bodies with some breathwork and a powerful sound journey. Then it’s time to ground, as we create a beach mandala placing stones, flowers, shells and any crystals we would like to gift the land and the sea with our intentions. There will also be time to ramp up the heat in the wild sauna before an invigorating sea dip. To round up the ceremony we will gather again for some fireside soup as we watch sunset, not to be missed!

Fire Ceremony & Overnight Camp

Fire Ceremony & Overnight Camp

We will gather around for a letting go fire ceremony, what is your burning question? What do you wish to let go of? We then turn up the heat in the wild sauna before connecting in with the salty waters for a moonlight dip. Returning to the fire It’s then time to build the energies and breath of fire. Moving into the solstice with the drums, singing and dancing our way into the Summer, before ending with a nightcap of Mugwort tea and a potluck supper. You can expect a deep sound immersion on this one! LOTS of drums (including the Mother of all Drums) Didgeridoo’s, Rattles, a truly immersive experience and a complete sense of freedom.

Smudging / cleansing ceremony

We open the sacred space with a cleansing (or smudging) ceremony with our own native Mugwort. A smudging ceremony is the ritual of burning plant resins and herbs while intentions and prayers are called forth. Many cultures have used the power of smoke to cleanse and say prayers.  Native American and Indigenous cultures have practiced smudging rituals to clear away negative energy, to invite in peace and harmony for individuals or environments.

mandala

Beach mandala

Mandala is a Sanskrit word that loosely translates to circle' or 'centre' and represents the universe. We gather pieces from across the beach and we work together to make a art work to honour Mother Earth & The Sun.

Pop Up Wild Sauna

We gather in the sauna. We slowly increase the heat. As your core temperature rises and your body starts to sweat , we then take a break to cool off, just outside or in the water.  We are very careful to keep everyone safe and as comfortable as possible in the heat and cold. Sea dip is at your own discretion- no pressure at all!

Cold dipper

In between sauna rounds it is a good idea to cool off. To cool off you can either sit outside the sauna or you might like to take a cold water dip. We would advise going into the water gently, incrementally, so that your body can get used to it. Once you are in up to your waist, take a deep breath through your nose and as you exhale slowly through your mouth gently submerge your body so you are sitting on the floor of the river. The access is nice and easy.  The benefits of the cold plunge are many! You go in the water at your own risk.

Qi Gong

“Chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being.

Fire Ceremony

Fire is a powerful symbol of wisdom, knowledge, passion, and purification. A fire ceremony is a purification and transformative ritual traditionally performed as a way of releasing something that no longer serves you.

Supper

After the experience we gather around the fire for vegan soup.

jillsound

Soundbath

Experience a deeply meditative sound bath immersed within the sounds and the elements.  Tibetan bowls and the beautiful tones of gongs, working in harmony to soothe, balance and restore your energy. The gongs vibrations impact the body and all its meridians. The sound releases blocks, reduces tension and stimulates circulation.  Sound is so effective as it deeply influences our emotional bodies as well as our physical bodies.

Drum Journey

A drum journey is a type of shamanic journey that involves entering a trance-like state through the rhythmic beating of a drum . In traditional cultures, drum journeys were often used for healing, divination, and spiritual exploration.

During a drum journey you may begin to experience vivid mental imagery, altered states of consciousness, and even mystical experiences. The rhythmic beats of the drum help to synchronize the group's brainwaves, creating a collective trance state.

We seek peace along the beach

This is a very special spot. As we join the ceremony the tide moves out. Low tide is around midnight. As the sunrises the tide comes back in again. We can see the sun set and the sunrise over the sea from this beach- with a little bit of walking.

We are in a lovely quiet spot away from the town. Backed by cliffs we are sheltered from the wind. You may see the Kestrel and you will definitely see sea birds. Dolphins are spotted frequently.

Trip Tips

Wrap Up Warm!

Wrap Up Warm!

Please dress for cold weather!! During breathwork and gongs you will be very still. Bring plenty of baggy clothes to get back into once you are finished after the sauna. Maybe a changing robe for modesty! It's cold but we can manage the cold by wearing, plenty of layers.

Bring a bottle of water

Bring a bottle of water

You will sweat a lot in the sauna and so bring some water... with maybe a crunch of sea salt in for hydration.

Wear swimming cozzie underneath

To save time when you get here just wear your cozzie underneath.

Be gentle and don't go out of your depth

Be gentle and don't go out of your depth

If you do decide to have a dip , please be gentle on yourself, go in slowly and incrementally. Then when you are up to your waist slowly submerge. There is no need to go out of your depth. You dip at your own risk.

Head torch or torch

Head torch or torch

It is helpful for you to bring a head torch or torch. We do have lights, but it is best to have your own personal torch if you have one!

River shoes

River shoes

The reef is pebbly and there are lots if little winkles. It is totally safe but this can be slightly uncomfortable on some feet. So please bring sandals or wetsuit boots if you have sensitive feet and have them.

FAQs

We recommend simply doing the sauna what traditional sauna-ers have long done: nothing. Just sit there. Let your mind go. Do some reflecting while your thinking is still sharp; meditate when your mind starts going blank. Just be.

During your sauna session, you’ll lose a lot of water through your sweat — up to four cups during a twenty-minute session! Be sure to rehydrate with plenty of water afterward. Supplement with electrolytes as needed.

We would also recommend to just go easy on yourself. You will be in a state of high vibration and relaxation. You want to be in that state as long as possible so stay away from stressful or negative situations, people or media.

Bottle of water. Towl. Yoga matt. Bag for putting clothes in while you are in the sauna. Dress in something loose and comfy with bathing costume underneath. We are just in bathing costume in the sauna then in and out of the sea (if you wish). Afterwards it's a case of getting back into your clothes again a bit wet, so consider a dressing gown/towel/ dry robe for modesty. PLease wrap up warm. Plenty of layers.

That is absolutely fine there is no pressure at all to go in the water! You can stay in the sauna as long as is comfortable and just take breaks out in the air.

A sound bath is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by various sources, including healing instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, rattles, tuning forks, and even the human voice itself.

Breathwork refers to any type of breathing exercises or techniques. People often perform them to improve mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. During breathwork you intentionally change your breathing pattern.

There are many forms of breathwork therapy that involve breathing in a conscious and systematic way. Many people find breathwork promotes deep relaxation or leaves them feeling energized.
