Wild Sauna
Saltburn
Saltburn is one of the North East coast’s real gems — a beautiful Victorian seaside town with big skies, sweeping beach, and that unmistakable North Sea air.
We’re honoured to bring the wild sauna here, tucked away at the far west end of the promenade — a quieter corner where the crowds thin out and the coastline feels a little more wild.
Here you’ll find fire, steam, sea air, and space to slow down — a simple, elemental experience right on the edge of the North Sea.
Behind every sauna session is a sauna host....
We’re incredibly grateful for this crew. They’re out there in all weathers — wind, rain, sunshine and sea spray — lighting the stove, carrying the wood, and keeping the steam just right so you can come and receive their dose of heat, sea air, and calm. They love their jobs and it shows!
Nicky
Nicky has been looking after sauna guests in Saltburn since the winter of 2025 and is now a familiar face on the promenade. One of our longest-serving members of the team, she has a real gift for holding the sauna space — keeping the fire steady, the steam just right, and making everyone feel welcome the moment they arrive.
Regulars will know her well. Over time she’s become something of a feature of the seafront and, among our guests, has earned the well-deserved title of “Queen of the Steam.”
Neil
Neil is one of the calm, steady hands behind the sauna. A regular surfer and lover of the outdoors, he brings a relaxed, welcoming presence to every session. Whether he’s tending the fire, topping up the steam, or chatting with guests between rounds, Neil has a natural way of helping people settle into the rhythm of the sauna.
Ellis
Ellis has been part of the Whitby Wellbeing crew since the early days, dipping in and out over the years, and is now a regular face at our Saltburn sessions since moving to the town.
Ellis has a calm way about him that suits the sauna perfectly. He keeps the fire steady, the steam just right, and always has time for a good chat if you fancy one.
Tracy
Tracey may be small in stature, but she’s strong in arm and big in personality. She brings a warm, caring energy to every session and has a natural way of making people feel comfortable the moment they arrive.
She loves being down by the beach and has a great knowledge of foraging, often sharing little nuggets about the plants and wild foods around the coast.
Jonathan
Jonathan brings a calm, thoughtful presence to the sauna and has a natural way of holding the space so people can properly unwind. He has a knack for meaningful conversation — the sort that flows easily between stories of wild places, big ideas, and the simple joy of being outside.
